COMMUNITY INTEGRATION WORKER

West Cork Development Partnership wish to recruit 2 Community
Integration Development Officers to work with New Arrival migrant
communities in West Cork.

West Cork Development Partnership is a Local Development Company which
develops projects and services to support sustainable and vibrant
communities, where people realise their potential and experience a
high quality of life.

This post is supported by the SICAP programme funded by Local
Community Development Committee (LCDC) for Cork County Council, Pobal
and Department of Rural and Community Development.

DUTIES OF THE ROLE WILL INCLUDE: -

Working as part of a team, the Community Integration Workers will
support community integration and support the organisation of
activities and events which enhance integration in the community.

The role will also involve working with individual migrants and
working with voluntary community, sporting and cultural groups in the
area to ensure that opportunities for integration are supported and
maximised throughout West Cork

Support for the establishment and operation of conversational English
classes throughout West Cork.

Supporting individuals to access labour market opportunities and
training programmes. Working with employers to help remove barriers as
required.

To work with communities and community leaders throughout West Cork to
organise and support multi-cultural and intercultural events in
various west cork towns.

To plan, organise and deliver a variety of training programmes,
activities and initiatives throughout the year in accordance with
WCDP’s strategy for supporting new arrivals.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

* Experience of community development work.
* Full Clean Driving Licence and access to a car which can be used
as part of work on a daily basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* A relevant third-level qualification including social
sciences/social care, psychology, community development or equivalent
combination of relevant education and experience;
* Have verbal and written fluency in English. Fluency in additional
languages will be an advantage.
* Successful candidates must satisfy Work Permit Eligibility
requirements (including any person holding an official letter
confirming they have been granted Temporary Protection in Ireland
under the EU Temporary Protection Directive **Apply on the

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

* A minimum of one year experience in a similar position or in
community services/education/professional services / legal / or social
care setting.
* Experience of providing individual support and outreach,
preferably to migrants/refugees/asylum seekers.
* To have professional experience in dealing with challenging
personal stories and have strong coping mechanisms.
* Some understanding of immigration policies, practices and
legislation in Ireland and EU.
* A strong interest in and knowledge of the issues facing asylum
seekers and refugees and migrants in Ireland, particularly those who
are at risk of social exclusion, poverty and discrimination.
* A commitment to a human rights based approaches. Evidence of same.
* Extensive knowledge of social welfare policies and practices.
* Experience of report writing and database usage. Strong IT,
communications and social media skills.
* Experience in information provision and advocating for rights and
equality.
* An understanding and ability to relate to and work with people
across cultures and backgrounds.
* Experience of working in partnership with a wide range of other
organisations.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

POSTS: Community Integration Worker (X 2) ( *.5
hours per week) Initial contract, may be renewed depending on
performance and subject to funding availability. Initially a contract
will be offered from commencement until *st
December *. (Part-time options may be

A panel will be established in relation to this position. A
probationary period will apply.

LOCATION: Post requires outreach work with travel required throughout
the service delivery area of West Cork. Expenses will be paid from
home or office for outreach work as appropriate.

REPORTING TO: SICAP Programme Manager in West Cork Development
Partnership.

SALARY: Salary will be based on the WCDP SICAP project worker scale
depending on experience (Starting approximately €**Apply on the
